Surgeon from Emergency Care Institute detained by CNA for demanding 13.000 lei from patient
A plastic surgeon from the Emergency Care Institute was detained by the officers from the National Anti-corruption Center, for requesting 13 thousand lei from a patient in order to perform the medical intervention.
The woman ended up in the hospital, after she was beaten by her lover, with multiple traumas. An urgent surgery was performed, for which the woman paid afterwards. Later on she was demanded to pay 10.000 lei more for "a rushed surgery". Along with this sum, the physician requested 3 more thousand lei after it was done.
The woman addressed to the National Anti-corruption Center, who managed to register the money transfer and caught re-handed the recipients.
The surgeon was taken in by the National Anti-corruption Center and is now investigated, where she gave the received money and admitted to her crimes.
Now, if found guilty, the surgeon risks jail time,a fine and deprivation of the right to maintain certain jobs for an undetermined amount of time.
