The Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia wants Bishop Dionisie Erhan, who worked in the interwar period at the Suruceni Monastery, to pass it among the saints. Then the place was subject to the Canonical Patriarchy.
The approach was addressed to the Metropolitan Synod, after some caval consolidation works revealed the incorrupted body of the hierarch 75 years after his death.
"It is a great wonder, because the body is virtually unspoiled, it is not skeletonized. Muscle tissue, teguments are dry," said Epistimia, the abbess of Suruceni Monastery.
The miracle is even greater as the inanimate body, burned in the Soviet period by profaners, has not burned. This has also been confirmed by anthropologists.
"When he was dressed in his hat, he put on his coat while he was a little restrained. He was standing on his feet", said the abbess of Suruceni Monastery.
The Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia wants the bishop to be canonized in the Year of the Centenary.
"It was decided that a file should be filed and the file should be submitted to the Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church in order to be canonized", said Ioan Cosoi, the secretary of the Metropolitan Church of Bessarabia.
Locals say it's impressive what happened to the hierarch's body:
"When the Monastery was closed, many sculptures were broken and perhaps it remained untouched. By the sticks, I think he found him".
"I saw two coffins there, and there were only spiders there. The morgue was full of spiders, which is why I am surprised, like that with spiders".
Representatives of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church have initiated research, but they say they are not rushing with a decision.
"Speculatively, we would not want to link the Centenary to the canonization that is claimed by other structures in a hurry. There is nothing to celebrate with political and historical anniversaries", said Vadim Cheibaş, the secretary of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church.
Hierarch Dionisie Erhan was also a vicar bishop of the Archdiocese of Chisinau, but also Bishop of Ismail and White Fortress.
