The first lung transplant in Romania was performed by a Moldovan doctor. Igor Tudorache is the head of the Pulmonary Transplant Team in Hanover, Germany. The expert came from abroad to assist a 36-year-old patient from Iași.
The medical procedure took place on Thursday at St Mary's Hospital from Bucharest. wrote infoprut.ro.
The transplant begun at 4:00 and finished at 11:00. The patient was then transferred to the ICU.
The medical team was made out of two surgeons from St Mary's Hospital, the anesthesia team and a team of nurses who work in the same hospital.
