Journalist and writer Tatiana Ţîbuleac is among this year’s winners of the European Union Literature Prize (EULP).

The aim of EULP is to put the spotlight on the creativity and diverse wealth of Europe’s contemporary literature in the field of fiction, to promote the circulation of literature within Europe and to encourage greater interest in non-national literary works.

The works of the selected winners (one per country participating in the Prize on a rotation basis) will reach a wider and international audience, and touch readers beyond national and linguistic borders.

Tatiana Țîbuleac was born in 1978 in Chișinău, in Moldova. She holds both Moldovan and Romanian citizenship. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences of the Moldova State University. She worked for PRO TV Chișinău as a reporter, editor and news-speaker. She currently lives in Paris, where she works in the audio-visual field.

It's the first time when a Moldovan person won this prestigious prize. On a Facebook post, Țîbuleac thanked everybody who had supported her and mentioned this prize was for two countries. 

The Prize is financed by the Creative Europe programme of the European Commission, which aims to achieve three main goals: to promote cross-border mobility of those working in the cultural sector; to encourage the transnational circulation of cultural and artistic output; and to foster intercultural dialogue.
