The Government approved the budgetary framework for the years 2018-2020
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the Medium-Term Budgetary Framework (MTEF) for 2018-2020, an asset designed to provide stability, predictability and continuity of publicly funded policies in the period under review.
The document represents an update of CBTM 2017-2019, expanding its forecasts and analysis for 2020, and has been prepared in compliance with the target indicators and commitments assumed in the Memorandum with the IMF and other development partners.
According to the project, the main objective is to implement structural reforms, to strengthen public finances and financial stability, to streamline the use of budgetary resources, and to redirect existing resources to programs of major importance.
In particular, the priorities in the context of CBTM 2018-2020 are specified and derive from the National Development Strategy "Moldova 2020", the Government Program of Activity for the years 2016-2018 and the RM-EU Association Agreement.
At the same time, additional policy / project measures were identified as part of the Government's reform agenda, including the increase of wage standards and the implementation of priority projects financed from external sources reimbursed to state-owned enterprises.
Their inclusion in the CBTM will be analyzed in the light of the objective of promoting a prudent financial and budgetary policy and will be discussed in the context of the second assessment of program supported by the IMF this autumn.
