The state continues to earn money for people caught smoking in forbidden places. The amount of the fines paid during January - July was about 800 thousand lei. Totally, the General Inspectorate of Police found about 1,600 deviations, the total amount of fines of 2.5 million lei.
Most often, minutes were prepared for smoking on playgrounds, stadiums, and venues where demonstrations took place. As a result of citizens' complaints and police raids, accompanied by doctors, about 260 deviations for which fines of over 62,000 lei have been paid have been documented.
In most cases smokers who have lit cigarettes near the entrances of public institutions, such as hospitals or schools, have been punished. Also during this period, traders who did not show the ban that smoke cigarettes and who sold cigarettes to minors were also sanctioned. And three fines, about 12,000 lei, were applied for smoking in public transport.
The Publika team has surprised several cases when smokers have broken the law.
A young woman was caught with a lit cigarette right next to a playground.
And a man smoked while an event dedicated to the Romanian Language Day was organized in Stefan cel Mare Park.
Several people confirm that they have witnessed such violations:
"This thing happened, I saw that a person smoked and it bothered me. She was a lady."
"I saw just how she smokes around the children without any disturbance."
Doctors warn that smoking can be the cause of many serious illnesses.
"Passive smoking is often more harmful than the active one." "Immunity is lower and from this account all forms of infection develop more quickly." Smokers also make stomach cancer, "said Luminiţa Suveică, a physician.
