Three customs officers from Giurgiuleşti customs and a truck driver will stand trial, for smuggling big amounts of cigarettes.
It was proven that the three customs officers, responsible for the "Rapiscan' scan machine, were part of a criminal group specializing in cigarettes smuggling. Their role was to modify the results of the scan machine that would allow the truck driver to pass, without issues, the customs to Romania with the contraband, hidden in specially made places in the semitrailer.
The cigarettes are estimated to cost 1.405.026 lei.
The suspect might spend the next 10 years behind bars.
The case continues, with hope of catching all those implicated in the conspiracy.
