Patients with chronic diseases will benefit, from today, from a number of free medicines from the list of those partially compensated so far.

According to the Ministry of Health, these are preparations for the treatment of the most common diseases, such as cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, digestive, bronchial asthma, pyelonephritis, hepatitis and others.

Currently, the state is offsetting a list of different drugs ranging from 30 to 70 percent.

The novelty is that patients taking, for example, three drugs for a particular illness will receive one or two free of charge.

The recipe will be written by the doctor, and the preparation will be taken out of pharmacies. If the patient refuses the medicine, he will be informed about others available, partially compensated. The doctor will have to write the active substance in the prescription, and the pharmacist will be obliged to offer the patient the preparation for free.

Also, as of today, all pharmacies must have a list of free medicines. For this initiative, the Government has planned in the state budget an additional 60 million lei.

Currently, the list of compensated medicines includes 148 common international names.
