Traditional shirt will be included in UNESCO Cultural Patrimony as a cultural identity element of Romania and Republic of Moldova
The joint meeting of the national working groups of the Republic of Moldova and Romania took place at Iasi in order to elaborate and promote the transnational dossier "Art of the Shirt Shirt - A Cultural Identity Element in Romania and the Republic of Moldova", to be registered on the Representative List UNESCO of the Immaterial Cultural Patrimony of Humanity.
An extensive program of actions to be undertaken by the working groups for the preparation of the joint dossier was prepared at the meeting; the responsibilities of each participating institution were shared; a timetable for promotional activities, etc.
We mention that an official collaboration for the joint promotion at UNESCO level of shirts with the other as a representative piece of the traditional Romanian port carrying universal value was initiated in 2016 and in November 2018 at Bucharest, a Protocol for cooperation between the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Culture and National Identity of Romania was signed. The document provides for enhanced cooperation in the field of culture, including the cooperation of the parties in the preparation of nomination files for the common heritage elements for inclusion in the UNESCO Convention lists.
We remind you that the Republic of Moldova and Romania have already promoted three transnational files on the UNESCO Representative List of the Immaterial Cultural Heritage of Humanity: "The Man-Looking Carnival" (2013), "Traditional Techniques for Creating the Bark" (2016)", March 1 "(2017).
