A lawyer for a journalist working for the Die Welt newspaper in Turkey appeared again in an Istanbul court on Wednesday, where he is facing charges of insulting the Turkish justice system.
Veysel Ok, 34, who is facing up to two years in prison after comments made in an newspaper interview, said, "until today I have defended someone else's freedom of expression, now I defend my own freedom of expression."
The court has been adjourned until July.
Ok has been a lawyer for 11 years.
His client Yucel, a German-Turkish journalist for German newspaper Die Welt, was detained in Turkey for more than a year and was released from jail in February.
Turkish authorities accused Yucel of disseminating terrorist propaganda and inciting hatred, as well as espionage, which he denies.
