Tudor Ulianovschi: Republic of Moldova has what to offer India

New Delhi - Possibilities to increase trade-economic exchanges between our states, especially in the agricultural and agro-industrial field, by creating and facilitating export-import conditions and respecting the international legal framework, organizing business forums, and other commercial initiatives, as well as the interest of the Republic of Moldova in deepening bilateral relations in agriculture and wine industry, were the subjects discussed during the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi with the Minister of Agriculture and Welfare of India, Radha Mohan Singh.
During the meeting, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi stressed that the Government of the Republic of Moldova will appreciate the contribution of the Indian side to the promotion of Moldovan products, especially fruits and vegetables, by undertaking business missions and participating in bilateral business forums, attracting potential investors and promoting exports. "The Republic of India is an important market for export with a high potential for export of fresh and processed vegetable production from the Republic of Moldova", the Moldovan Foreign Minister stressed.
Radha Mohan Singh pointed out: "The Indian side is interested in capitalizing on the Moldovan agricultural market, stressing that all the necessary actions are currently being undertaken in order to finalize the procedures for initiating the import of fruit and vegetables from the Republic of Moldova, based on the legislation internationally in the field in order to comply with the phytosanitary requirements, priority for the import of apples."
At the same time, the Indian official showed interest in the possibility of importing Moldovan wine to the Indian market and facilitating the organization of events promoting wine products in Moldova, including the World Food Festival, in New Delhi.
In this context, the interlocutors welcomed the recent signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the chambers of commerce of the two countries, expressing their conviction that this document will create new opportunities for bilateral cooperation, including in the agricultural field.
Currently, agricultural products exported to India include pods; wheat and meslin, from India being imported dried fruits, nuts, spices, tea, coffee, cereals, sugar, meat.
