Two attempts to cross the border with false documents stopped at Costești and Criva Customs
In Costești and Criva Customs, officers have stopped two attempts to cross the border with forged documents. Two men are investigating for owning and using forged official documents.
At Costești, a citizen of Moldova from Bălți wished to cross the border. During the control, the 39-year-old has presented a passport and documents for the vehicle, a Renault Megane. Border guards have noticed strange elements in the Romanian ID and decided to verify it. The document turned out to not match an authentic one. According to the driver, it was gained legally, without third parties. As the man had no other documents required to pass the border he was forbidden exiting the country.
A few hours later, another Moldovan came to Criva Customs, driving a minibus going Chisinau - Poznan. While investigating the vehicle, officers have noticed an envelope and requested the driver to open it. It contained a Romanian ID, issued at the end of October 2016. The document was examined with a special device and it proved to contain signs of forgery, namely, the background color did not match the original. When questioned, the driver confessed that he was requested by a young man to transmit the envelope to his father in Poland.
Both documents were confiscated and sent to the forensics.
