United States will continue to support the reform of National Army
Defense Minister Eugen Sturza and US Ambassador to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan have today reviewed the military co-operation between the two countries and set priorities for 2019.
Officials have said at the meeting the reform of the Defense sector initiated by the current Defense Ministry leadership and US support for its implementation.
Thus, Eugen Sturza thanked Ambassador Hogan for the assistance provided by the American Government through projects and programs of education and training, technical assistance and refurbishment of the military infrastructure, with the aim of developing the capabilities of the National Army. In this regard, Minister Sturza referred to the International Military Education and Training Program (IMPET), the Global Peacekeeping Operations Initiative (GPOI) and other actions in which the military interoperability was tested both armies.
The US Ambassador also appreciated the efforts of the Defense Ministry to conduct sector reform, including through the implementation of the Defense Capabilities Initiative (DCBI).
The diplomat also highlighted the excellent cooperation between the US and Moldovan armies, expressing his country's readiness to strengthen the partnership on the defense dimension.
