UTM masters able to study one year in Romania and obtain two diplomas
Unique opportunity for Masters at the Technical University of Moldova (UTM). They will be able to study for one year in Romania, and get two diplomas from both countries thanks to an agreement signed by UTM and two higher education institutions of Romania for five-year term.
Students doing master degrees will attend first year at the Technical University of Moldova and the second year at the "Ştefan cel Mare" University in Suceava or Polytechnic University of Bucharest (Romania).
"This is one of best solutions at this moment as we're interested in creating a Romanian elite remaining in this territory", said Valentin Popa, chancellor of Ştefan cel Mare University, Suceava.
Those who want to go to Bucharest need to know French.
"Our agreements are not on payment. Students do not pay anything when they come to us," said Mihnea Costoiu, Rector of Polytechnic University, Bucharest.
This year, about 30 students will be able to study in neighboring country. In the future, the list of candidates will be expanded.
"The number of places will be limited for the moment because it depend on the financing we obtain. Admission criteria will be based on academic success", explained Viorel Bostan, rector of UTM.
Students hope that these diplomas enable them to get more opportunities:
"Absolutely it would be a great advantage in the future to do a master's degree abroad. New knowledge in the field".
"If it is recognized throughout the European Union, I would have more options for employment not only in the European Union, but also in Moldova."
The project was initiated by the Francophone University Agency and is valid for five years. The Technical University of Moldova also hopes to include bachelor degree students in this project.
