Valeriu Ghiletchi: All the excuses and arguments that made opposition not to vote for introducing "European Integration" phrase in Moldovan Constitution don't matter
The history records only the actions, but not the excuses. All the arguments brought to against voting for the introducing the "European Integration" phrase in the Constitution won't resist. This opinion belongs to Valeriu Ghiletchi, the vice-President of the Parliament.
"Yesterday, we had a press conference and we told how important it is to vote for introducing the European Integration phrase in the Constitution.
Today, we had the required number of voters, 54 members of the Governing Coalition and 13 opposition colleagues.
All the excuses, all the arguments against voting for this draft law don't count. If some parties declare themselves to be pro-European, then they should have voted.
When PL and PLDM went to the opposition, they said they will vote for any initiative proposed by the Parliament. Today, they didn't do what they promised. Even if in the last period we passed through some hard times, this should not affect us when it comes to such draft laws.
A good part of the citizens won't approve this decision. We should recognize a further division of the society. As a result, we decided to organize a Referendum and the citizens will decide", said Valeriu Ghiletchi, the vice-President of the Parliament.
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that the voting for this draft law, initiated by the Democrats and PPE was postponed after the debates from the last week.
Within the discussions, that took three hours, the liberal democrats, the liberals, the socialists and the communists said that they are against this change in the Constitution.
Andrian Candu, the President of the Parliament said he is disappointing that the political interests and the frustration of the opposition stop such important projects for the future of Moldova.
