Valeriu Ghiletchi met Latvia President of Parliament who will participate at Eastern Partnership Summit
Ināra Mūrniece, the President of the Saeima of Latvia, visited today the Republic of Moldova, after Andrian Candu, the President of the Parliament invited her. The Latvian Delegation will attend a High Level Interparliamentary Conference "Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and Current Security Challenges", organized on 2 March.
President of Saeima Latvia was welcomed at the airport by Deputy Speaker Valeriu Ghileţchi.
Ināra Mūrniece will be in our country between February 28 and March 3, and will meet with Andrian Candu, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Iurie Leanca, Latvian High Level EU Counselors and Latvian Diaspora, Honorary Consul of The Republic of Latvia in our country, etc.
The President of the Saeima of Latvia, Ināra Mūrniece, will talk about "providing a response to misinformation" in panel I of the High Level Interparliamentary Conference "Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and Current Security Challenges", organized on 2 March 2018.
The high-level meeting will address issues related to disinformation, information security, energy and current common challenges, economic growth and the rule of law in the Eastern Partnership. The event is organized in partnership with the Atlantic Council at the initiative of the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, the President of the Parliament of Georgia and of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine. The three Presidents of Parliaments unite their efforts to promote common defense and security policies.
Representatives of the Parliaments in the area as well as the US Congress confirmed that MEPs attended the first high-level interparliamentary conference on security issues "Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and Current Security Challenges" organized in Chisinau. Notable experts such as Atlantic Council Executive Vice President Damon Wilson, Atlantic Council Eurasia expert Anders Aslund, Eurasia Center Director John Herbst, Ambassador Asif Chaudhry, RUSI Associate Director Jonathan Eyal Ambassador Alexander Vershbow, the former NATO Deputy Secretary-General, other international and regional experts.
