Venice Commission experts start trip concerning change of electoral system in Moldova

Venice Commission experts traveling to Moldova today will meet Speaker Andrian Candu. They will discuss the bill on changing the electoral system.
The delegation will meet law-makers, with the Central Electoral Commission and the Justice Ministry.
Tomorrow, the experts will come up with recommendations for the bill on introducing the mixed electoral system, voted in Parliament in the first reading later last week.
The draft proposes that 50 legislators be elected on party lists and 51 – directly by citizens in constituencies.
Andrian Candu said the bill would be set for final passing in June, after the Venice Commission issued its view.
