Victoriabank's assets were reportedly seized. The bank's reaction: We will resort to all legal means to protect ourselves
The court allegedly authorized the seizure of Victoriabank's assets, writes deschide.md. According to the quoted source, the seizure was applied on cars, real estate, state securities and their nominal values in the total amount of about 2.3 billion lei.
Requested by Publika.MD, the representatives of the General Prosecutor's Office could not confirm the information and told us that they would provide more details later. Representatives of Victoriabank also reacted to the information published in the press last evening. In a statement posted on the institution's website, Victoriabank expressed surprise at the news for its inclusion in this case which concerns events that took place in the banking system of the Republic of Moldova six years ago. The bank is also surprised that information about the situation pubslished on the press without the bank being informed.
Moreover, Victoriabank says that it has nothing to do with the case investigated by the authorities, and in order to prove this, it collaborates with the authorities and is waiting for the next stages of the process.
"We are open to the authorities to provide all the necessary details because it is also in our interest for these things to be clarified once and for all. Victoriabank is moving forward, on the path we started 30 years ago and with the new momentum we have especially since 2018. Thanks to the new international shareholders, the 1,200 employees are available to customers, Victoriabank continues to operate normally, to finance the economy of the Republic of Moldova and to help overcome the situation created by Covid-19. We are confident that in the next stages all allegations against Victoriabank will be refuted. In the meantime, our bank will continue to play its role as a financier of the people and the economy ", mentioned Bogdan Pleșuvescu, the president of Victoriabank.
The communiqué issued by Victoriabank also states that Banca Transilvania and the EBRD will resort to all legal means to protect Victoriabank.
