Vladimir Cebotari: Elections' result is a result of a political fight
Sunday's result of the local elections from Chisinau was predictable for PDM. The party tried to urge the other parties to identify a unique candidate to support, but they rejected this. The statement was made by Vladimir Cebotari, in the weekly press briefing by PDM.
"As expected in Chisinau, the first round did not bring a single candidate to Sunday's elections and the second round will take place." The result was predictable from our point of view, we made several calls to identify a single right-wing candidate around whom all the forces that have common visions and European orientation are organized. We find that the political struggles have brought the result, and we have the situation that is a very disillusioned electorate , but the most worrying are the signals that have been received by the whole political class, we have never had a fairly low turnout in elections, it is very bad that citizens are becoming increasingly politically passive Citizens do not participate in the way of organizing the city It is a sanction for the political class. We believe that citizens have sanctioned in this way what has happened in the past years in the City Hall. We have a citizens' boycott of the elections in the capital", said Vladimir Cebotari, the deputy-president of the PDM.
PDM has not announced any favorite for second round, but will urge citizens to mobilize and actively participate at the pools.
"We did not have any favorites either in Balti or in Chisinau and we don't have any preferences for the second round. We hope that there will be a better turnout in the second round and we will do our best to mobilize the voters to come. I would like to ask all the politicians to draw all the necessary lessons from these elections to focus on the Chisinau problems and not on the political issues. As our citizens are interested in how a road is repaired", said Vladimir Cebotari within the weekly briefing of the PDM.
