Early morning alert, September 3, on the Valea Perjei Border Police Sector. The mobile patrol that oversaw the sector of responsibility managed to detain a person who had the intention of crossing the state border by circumventing the proximity point.
A 54-year-old man with no identity card hurried to the border line to reach Dmitrovca, Ukraine. This was noticed by border guards through the thermal imaging technique, and shortly afterwards it was detained at a distance of 20 meters from the borderline.
From the preliminary investigations, it was found that the man originated in Ceadir-Lunga, and his action is motivated by the desire to reach a friend to help him in the household. Although he acknowledges that his gesture is contrary to the law, but the lack of travel documents forced him to go through the field and try his luck by crossing the border unseen.
The case is still being investigated by border guards from the South Regional Directorate in accordance with the legislation in force. The person is documented for attempting to cross the state border illegally, he or she is liable to a fine of up to 750 conventional units or community service from 150 to 200 hours or to imprisonment for up to 2 years.
