The warehouses of firms providing food to schools and kindergartens in Chisinau hold lots of expired food.

Irregularities were unveiled following raids at 19 of them. Food Safety Agency inspectors found expired milk, eggs, pasta and oil.

Many firms could not produce documents proving the food was not dangerous to eat. The inspectors concluded and recommended that many school and kindergarten kitchens be repaired.

Later in November, 17 entrepreneurs and public servants were arrested for roles in scams of supplying education units with rotten food.
