Experts from Public Health Center have detected vibrio cholerae in the waters of Dniester.

Doctors also believe the water to be dirty and after tests declared that it does not fit the sanitary norms.

"The water is dirty and due to high temperatures bacteria rapidly spread" epidemiologist from Public Health Center, Gheroghe Turcu said.

Despite the bacteria detected near beaches from Vadul lui Vodă does not cause cholera, it might lead to severe consequences.

"It might cause symptoms such as abdominal pain, queasiness, sickness" Geroghe Turcu explained.

Doctors recommend people to avoid swimming. Still, it does not stop people who wish to cool down in the waters of Dniester.

"Where else can we swim? We cannot do it in lakes and thought it might not be so grave here, as the water is constantly flowing" a person said.

"We are swim here out of need and do not think of the bacteria while doing so" another person mentioned.

Despite specialists having warned the local City Hall, no banners warning people of the bacteria were installed. Mayor of Vadul lui Vodă, Iurie Onofreiciuc claims that he was not informed of this before. While installing a warning panel would be useless, as people would ignore it anyway.
