What spot Moldova is in world wine-makers ranking
Moldova’s is the 20 top wine-maker in the world, according to the International Vine and Wine Organization.
Moldova’s output this year approximately the same amount of wine as last year: 170 million of liters.
This country climbed one step, topping Brazil. The wine production in the Latin-American country is set to dwindle to 140 million of liters. Georgia, which is one step higher than Moldova, will produce approximately the same amount.
Although on the 12th position, with 490 million of liters, Russia’s output can’t cover the demand. The country imports significant quantities of wine. Moldova was one of its key suppliers, but Moscow embargoed them.
Romania is said to have seen a fulminant jump last year. It got on the 13th spot with an output of 490 million of liters this year: 37 % more than in 2015.
Italy remains the world’s biggest wine-maker with 4.88 billion of liters, that’s 2 % less than in 2015.
France comes the second with 4.19 billion of liters: 12% less than in 2015.
Spain is third with 3.78 billion of liters.
The International Organization of Vine and Wine assesses this year’s global production will be 20% less year on year, because of unfavorable weather.
