The order to start building gas pipeline Ungheni - Chisinau is to be issued on Thursday by Vestmoldtransgaz, a Moldovan company owned by Romania's state Transgaz. Last week the company succeeded in signing necessary contracts which enabled this work.
With the length of 120km, the pipeline has capacity to transport up to 1.5 billion m³ gas annually from Romania to Moldova. Transgaz is entitled to invest 93 million euros.
This pipeline is the next stage of pipeline Iași-Ungheni set off in 2014. Last September, Transgaz finished acquisition of state enterprise Vestmoldtransgaz and took over building Ungheni - Chisinau pipeline.
According to PM Pavel Filip, this is another important step to ensure the country's energy security.
