Why are sharp criticisms leveled against ACUM-affiliated NGOs?
Members and supporters of bloc ACUM have criticized bitterly media non-government organizations affiliated with PAS and DA, accusing them of partisans. This came after they had listed deputies Andrei Nastase and Maria Ciobanu on Press Enemy panel installed in front of Parliament on Press Freedom Day.
Among the fiercest defenders of the DA leader Andrei Nastase turned out to be Nicolae Josan, one of DA chiefs, who claimed to be a journalist.
He pointed to NGOs and accused them of being paid to list the deputies on the panel. Josan even published a letter, urging an investigation upon media institutions.
Maria Ciobanu, the ACUM deputy, who was also "nominated" on Press Enemy, voiced criticism against representatives of Center for Independent Journalism.
Dazzlingly, she wrote a post on Facebook arguing that she would only trust the decision should there were independent presses.
Jurnal Trust Media Director Val Butnaru whose patron is the fugitive criminal Victor Topa, godfather of Andrei Nastase, was indignant that DA leader and his party colleagues were named as enemies of the press.
According to Center for Independent Journalism, their names were listed on the panel due to their intolerance towards mass media.
"We urge dignitaries to behave appropriately towards journalists regardless of the media they represent."
The Executive Director of the Association of Independent Press, Petru Macovei, has yet commented on the criticism of the media institutions.
Previously, DA leader Andrei Nastase and his party colleague Maria Ciobanu verbally attacked some journalists more than once, even on the Press Freedom Day.
