WINE TOURISM, SUPPORTED: World Tourism Organization will support Moldova
The World Tourism Organization will help Moldova capitalize on the huge potential it has in the field of wine tourism. This was what Zurab Pololikashvili, general secretary of the institution, said in our country on the occasion of the third edition of the World Wine Tourism Conference. Pololikashvili underscored the local impact of the event, which brought together 200 participants from 60 countries.
"Very many business projects, exchange of contacts between different cultures, countries, mentality, for example, with Japan, Canada." This day-to-day exchange of experience has an impact on tourism. said General Secretary of the WTO, Zurab Pololikashvili.
Pololikashvili mentioned that Moldova should be helped to develop the areas it best knows, namely rural, agricultural and environmental tourism. The general secretary of the institution has also made some recommendations for our country to become a magnet for tourists.
"You have to invest in promotion, you know what to sell, but I think you have to invest. Many countries have no wine, and wine is one of the best ambassadors for you to attract more and more tourists. to encourage you to collaborate with you, let's say that a new era for tourism in Moldova is now starting," said WTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili.
Last year, our country recorded the highest volume of wine production in the last four years, over 18 million decals, and the value of exports grew by almost 20% compared to 2016. We have the highest density in the world of the vineyards and, relative to the European countries, we occupy the sixth place after the area of the vineyards. At present, there are 24 wineries in Moldova.
