Moldova's fixed internet revenues rose 11.3 percent year-on-year in H1 to MDL 602.6 million, according to data from telecommunications authority Anrceti.

Starnet saw the highest increase in revenues, 12,3 percent, followed by Moldtelecom with 11.7 percent and Sun Communications with 8.9 percent.

Accumulated revenues of the other 77 operators grew by 7.9 percent to over MDL 56.2 million.

ARPU grew by 6.2 percent to MDL 178.2 and the number of fixed broadband subscribers increased by 2.1 percent in H1 compared to the end of 2016 and amounted to over 569,100.

The share of subscribers who contracted connections that allow speeds between 30 and 100 Mbps reached 50.4 percent. Customers with speeds of over 100 Mbps constituted 6.8 percent.

The number of users connected to the fibre optic network increased by 4.3 percent and totaled 328,500, those connected by coaxial cable increased by 3.5 percent to over 39,900 and those connected via other technologies increased by 2.1 percent to 2,300.

In terms of revenue, Moldtelecom is a leader with a market share of 64.3 percent and is followed by Starnet with 21.3 percent, and Sun Communications with 5.1 percent. The combined market share of the other 77 providers is of 9.3 percent.

At the same time, the number of subscribers connected to the network based on xDSL technologies decreased by 1.5 percent to 198,400.

On 30 June, of the total number of subscribers, 57.3 percent used FTTx technologies, 35.2 percent used xDSL technologies, 7.1 percent used coaxial cable and 0.4 percent used other technologies.

In H1, the penetration rate of fixed internet access services per 100 inhabitants increased by 0.4 percent and reached 16 percent.
