Chisinau physicians go to villages, examine elderly
Over 200 elderly from Răspopeni village of the eastern district of Șoldănești have been waited for to be freely examined by a team of doctors. The action is part of a campaign launched by the Healthcare Ministry, the Red Cross and the Help Age organizations.
Most of the elderly have eye and bone diseases. The physicians say many have broken bones that are too old to cure. The oculists are the most sought for.
Over 1,000 senior Moldovans have been examined by the doctors, as 800 have received free glasses. The project budget is 56,000 lei ($3,000).
