Moldova Parliament passes bill regulating organization of presidential elections
The draft amending the Electoral Code to hold the presidential elections has been passed in the last reading by the majority in the Moldovan Parliament.
Thus, the future president shall give up his party membership, if any.
The racing for the presidential seat will start, for the first time, concomitantly for all the hopefuls. It will kick off 30 days before the 30 October elections.
The presidential hopefuls will start gathering signatures 60 days before the elections and will end the procedure 30 days before the date.
The Moldovan Constitutional Court, on March 4, ruled to return to the legislation in force before 2000, when the president of the country had been elected dirfectly by citizens.
