Educational institutions can hire teachers despite moratorium
Ministry of Education announced today that general education institutions in the country will be able to hire teachers and staffing and the moratorium prohibiting hiring stuff, approved yesterday by the Government, does not cover the entire education system.
According to Deputy Minister of Education, Cristina Boaghe the actual moratorium has a direct impact on employment in the central office of the institution and subordinate bodies. These includes the National School Inspectorate, the National Curriculum and Assessment etc. For academic year 2016-2017, demand for teachers is 1,252 people. Currently, 654 graduates of institutions of higher education or post-secondary educational schools will start working on September 1. Under these conditions, 52.2 percent of the total number of vacancies are covered, and distribution process is underway.
"Educational institutions are funded from general or local district budgets, so will be able to hire teachers they need" , reads a press release of the institution.
According to the Ministry of Education, most teachers are needed in Hincesti, Cahul, Ialoveni and Drochia, the disciplines of mathematics, physics, Romanian language and literature as well as primary and preschool pedagogy.
At yesterday's meeting the Ministry of Finance proposed to institute a moratorium on "increasing the number of staff units" in public authorities and other institutions financed from the state budget.
Introduction of the moratorium was requested by the International Monetary Fund
