Moldova's Information and Security Service (Serviciul de Informații și Securitate -- SIS) marks 25 years since the foundation of the special and intelligence service.

SIS head Mihai Balan has sent a message to his employees, from which here are some excerpts:

"On the occasion of the 25th anniversary since the creation of the entities insuring the state's security, please accept my sincere ciongratulations and my appreciations for your work in the defense of the national interests.

"I appreciate the contribution of everyone of you, of all those who dedicated all their lives and careers to insure the state's security .

"My consideration is also with the veterans and reserve officers of the Service, who laid the foundations and passed the honorable traditions to the young generations.

"I express my gratitude to family members for the understanding and suport."
