MOLDOVA'S PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: Voters' profile
The Central Election Committee (CEC) has preliminary stated the election as valid. Over 1.14 million voters cast their ballots by 16:00, local time, raising the turnout to 39 % of the total registered electors.
Here is the profile of the voters having cast ballots:
9.06 % are aged 18 - 25;
24.06 % - 26-40,
26.23 % - 41-55,
32.03 % - 56-70 and 8.61 % are older than 71.
The district seeing the highest turnout is Ocnița (north) with 41.85 %, the lowest presence at polls being noted in the Gagauz autonomy – 30.26 %.
By 16:00 o’clock, Moldova time, the polling station in Seattle and Sacramento opened.
Till 15:30, 35,879 Moldovans voted abroad. Most active of them showed at a Moscow-based station -- 1,438, followed by Bucharest, Romania – 1,389, Padova, Italy – 1,109.
The most active Moldovabs abroad are in:
Italy -12,388 having voted at 25 polling stations;
Romania – 5,720 at 11 stations;
Russia – 3,429 at 8 stations.
The lowest turnout was remarked in China (19 people,) Lithuania (20 people) and Japan (25 people.)
