Most brands of paint sold in Moldova contain high concentrations of lead greater than 90 mg/l. The data is presented in an IPEM study, supported by AIDS, implemented in Moldova AO EcoContact.

Specialists say lead poisoning can affect children's health life, including lowering the IQ, learning difficulties, hypertension.

PUBLIKA.MD states that the Worldwide United Nations Environment Program and the World Health Organization designed to remove the lead from paint until 2020. 

According to statistics, in the past five years, Moldova has produced annually about 14,000 tonnes and imported nearly 7,000 tons of dyes, pigments, paints and dissolved varnishes.
