Pavel Filip: Eu will give to Moldova 100 million euro, 40 million of them as grant
The prime minister Pavel Filip is in an official visit to Brussels, where he met many European high officials.
In an exclusive interview for PUBLIKA TV, the prime minister made the totals of the first day in the official capital of European Union.
"The visit to Brussels is very important. Today I met with European Commissioners and Vice-presidents of Energy and Finance Commission. We had the opportunity to discuss the energy projects in Moldova, which are very important, as they are related to security and energy independence of the state. We have all assurances and support from the EU to move forward with the interconnections to the European energy system - both to the electricity and natural gas" said prime minister.
"I also had a meeting with Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis with whom I discussed the macro-financial assistance. Preventively it is established that we will have a macro-financial assistance of 100 million euro, the grant being 40 million euro. The first installment will be disbursed until the middle of 2017" added the head of the Moldovan Cabinet of Ministers.
Pavel Filip was also satisfied by meeting with European Council President Donald Tusk. The high official assured that the EU will support the European course of our country and support the reforms.
The prime minister also received assurances from the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn:
"We had the opportunity to go over all most important events that happened since our last meeting. He assured us with his support for the reforms. It is important to mention that as Commissioner Hahn assured us, in next few days the money will be disbursed from the European Union, it is about 45 million euro, money for projects already assessed by the European Union."
Also, the prime minister had the opportunity to meet the Commissioner Jean-Claude Juncker:
"This meeting lasted longer than it was planned in the agenda. We had discussions about the political situation in Moldova and the region" said the prime minister.
Pavel Filip also had a meeting with the head of European Commission, Federica Mogherini:
"We reviewed the implementation of the Road Map. We discussed the agenda of reforms which will be further implemented."
Prime Minister also added that in early 2017 are planned visits by European officials in Chisinau. It is about Donald Tusk, Federica Mogherini and Hahn:
"Most likely we will have visits by senior European officials early next year. So that we can discuss in Chisinau about Moldova's relations with the European Union. The most important message that I sent to European officials is that the European course of our country and implementing the Association Agreement can not be subject to negotiations or discussions through the prism of presidential election in Moldova. They supported us in this regard."
