State to establish monopoly on gambling activity
The state will establish monopoly on gambling activity rooms. An exception will be made for casinos with harsher work conditions. A law to this effect was published today, January 6th, in the Official Gazette. The document states that this area will be regulated by Parliament, Government and other authorities of the central government, depending on their duties.
The new law also stipulates that all gaming machines to be connected to the monitoring system on-line state.
"I think this is a necessary and right decision. First, the state will be the first to benefit."
"So far everyone did what they wanted, and the law requires concrete rules. It will be fine."
To obtain the right to carry out this work, casino owners will have to meet several conditions. These include minimum capital of five million lei, accountants and managers and no criminal record. Moreover, the new law prohibits the advertising field, and the entrance of persons less than 21 years old in gambling halls.
"The document stipulates the rules for placing halls of gambling. Thus, they will not be in a radius of 200 meters from the headquarters of local and central educational institutions, and medical ones. These restrictions also refers markets, railway stations, public transport stops, and underground passages. "
Last summer, the president of Democratic Party of Moldova, Vlad Plahotniuc proposed an action plan to severely regulate the gambling business. The proposed amendments provide for banning the casinos and gambling saloons in the areas where the children have access.
