Customs officers, intelligence officers and prosecutors have annihilated an international  criminal gang smuggling huge quantities of cigarettes.

They found 2,170,000 cigarettes at a warehouse in Chisinau with the aid of a police dog, called Mark.

A member of the gang was detained yesterday following operative info.

The lifted cigarettes are assessed at about 1 million lei, and if they had managed to sell them in the EU, the profit would have been over EUR100,000.
