Reaction of EU diplomats: President Igor Dodon is expected in Brussels

EU contacts with Moldovan authorities are committed to continuing the successful implementation of the Association Agreement for the benefit of Moldovan citizens, said Maja Kocijancic, spokesperson of EU diplomats.Â
"Of course, we look forward for Prezident Igor Dodon's visit to Brussels in the near future" , said Kocijancic, according Agerpres.ro.
"The Association Agreement, including its share of trade is the main basis of the EU's relations with Moldova and provide a strong legal political and commercial ties. As everybody knows, it entered into force and is implemented with positive results for both sides, EU relations with Moldova and the depth is demonstrated also by other important framework agreements, for example those concerning the mobility of citizens (Moldova in the EU)" , Maja Kocijancic said.
"Our contacts with the Moldovan authorities are committed to continuing the successful implementation of this Agreement for the benefit of Moldovan citizens. That is all I can say at this stage. Of course, we look forward to the visit of President Dodon in Brussels in the near future" , she concluded.
President, Igor Dodon, said on Tuesday, January 17th, in Moscow after meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, that the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU could be canceled after the next parliamentary elections in the republic.
"I also expressed my view against signing this agreement. I believe that he brought nothing to Moldova. And do not exclude that after the next parliamentary elections, the Socialist Party will obtain a parliamentary majority and will cancel this agreement" , Â said Dodon during a press conference alongside Putin.
