A 45-year-old woman has been hit by a car while crossing the pedestrian crossing. She died shortly at the hospital.

The tragedy occurred last night in Botanica sector of the capital.

The driver was detained for 72 hours.

The misfortune occurred after 8 p.m. An ambulance has transported the victim to the hospital, but due to serious injuries, the woman died in intensive care.

Witnesses say the driver was driving at excessive speeds.

Because of the speed, the driver failed to observe the victim and try to avoid the impact

The 49-year-old driver claims that the woman was crossing the street illegally.

The driver is prosecuted and risks up to seven years in prison.
