The credit card becomes a payment tool more and more often used by Moldovans. According to the National Statistics Bureau, over 10 mn card transactions were recorded last year, the value being MDL3.2 bn.

In 2016, the number of card payments surged 70 %, year on year, when only 6 mn transactions had been registered.

The value of all operations rose last year 18 % to reach MDL38.3 bn.

However, many Moldovans use the card but to use get their salaries and prefer to pay with cash.

Now, there are 1.5 million cards running in Moldova, 17 % more than in 2015.
