A police officer from the western district of Ungheni is probed for maltreating a minor who had allegedly stolen fish from a pond.

The policeman was detained this morning by prosecutors and internal affairs officers.

Later last September, the policeman brought the 16-year-old boy to the lake and compelled him to undress, get into water and get out the nets.

The man allegedly cursed and beat the boy.

As a result, the boy was two weeks in a shock state and now has speaking deficiencies.

The suspect may serve a 15-year term in prison.
