Chisinau's deputy mayor, Nistor Grozavu, is ready to take over in the interim as capital Mayor while Dorin Chirtoaca, ex-Mayor has to face his sentence. The official says he will also take into account the local councilors'opinions.

According to the legislation, in the case of suspension of the mayor, one of the deputy mayor has to take over the interim. Nistor Grozavu reserve the rights to refuse with his reason. However, he accept the interim placement and wants counselor's support.

Dorin Chirtoaca was suspended from office for power peddling. If found guilty, he risks up to 7-year imprisonment. Deputy Mayor, Nistor Grozavu and former Transport Director Igor Gamreţki were also detained for the same offense. Currently, they are under judicial scrutiny.
