Kroll plans to complete its second report by the end of October
On July 20, 2017, representatives of Kroll and Steptoe & Johnson paid a visit to Chisinau where they met with representatives of the National Bank, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, the National Anti-Corruption Center and the Criminal Assets Recovery Agency.
The purpose of the meeting was to agree on a comprehensive strategy for the recovery of the embezzled assets so as to ensure a close future cooperation and exchange of information in view of enhancing the efficiency of the recovery measures and to gather evidence in support of criminal actions, which can be filed internationally.
The strategy focuses on initiating court procedures in major jurisdictions by the end of this year, tracking the embezzled funds or locating the offenders (and other people involved) and their businesses.
In addition, proceedings will be initiated against third parties to allow disclosure of additional information and documents necessary to track the remaining stolen funds.
Kroll representatives said they plan to finalize their work so as to be able to present their second report by the end of October 2017. NBM intends to publish the summary of the document by the end of the year, taking into account all the confidentiality issues.
