The police detained two dangerous individuals who presumably were involved in committing at least 10 muggings and car thefts in Chisinau.

 According to the law enforcement officers, individuals were attacking only drunk women or men on the street, punching them and putting them to the ground, then depriving them of gold chains, mobile phones or wallets.

 The individuals, aged 24 and 27, respectively, are from the district of Orhei, one of them having been previously convicted in the Russian Federation for committing robbery and assaults. The suspects were located at their acquaintances in the district of Straseni, where they were hiding from Chisinau Police.

 The police have detected and retrieved several mobile phones, gold chains and other material goods that had been previously stolen.

 The offenders have been recently spotted by surveillance cameras installed at a market from Buiucani sector, when they followed and physically assaulted a woman and then stole her gold necklace.

 The offenders are prosecuted for serial robbery and car theft. Under the current criminal law, they risk a prison sentence of between 5 and 7 years.

 Citizens who have been victims of these individuals are urged to inform their district Police Inspectorate in view of filing complaints and establishing all the circumstances.

 The Chisinau police have intensified their actions to combat and prevent street crime and ensure citizens' security.
