Ex-Deputy Interior Minister with his godson, to appear in court for corruption

Former Deputy Interior Minister, Veaceslav Ceban, along with his godson, Stanislav Caraman, have committed their guilt. The first hearing in this case took place today and sentence will be announced on 30 August.
The prosecution demanded a penalty of 150,000 lei for Veaceslav Ceban, and for his godson - a fine of up to 225,000 lei. Likewise, prosecutors demanded amount of 12,000 EUR discovered on Caraman to be confiscated.
Veceaslav Ceban and Stanislav Caraman were detained on June 25th, being accused of corruption. According to the investigation, Caraman, being a member of the Customs Service, demanded a person 60,000 euros along with promise to influence over Ceban and some prosecutors.
The suspects managed to receive 12,000 euros and the second tranche, worth 30,000 euros, was transferred under the control of the CNA.
