Government approved the regulation on access to service market provided for airport users in Moldova. The document stipulates free access to this market and ensures the efficient use of air transport infrastructure.
Free access to the ground handling service will reduce the operating costs but also improve service quality offered to airport users.
In order to have this access, providers must be Moldova residents and obtain ground handling service certificate. Likewise, air operators will reserve the rights to ensure their own handling services.
The new regulations will apply to airports whose annual traffic is at least two million passengers or 50 000 tonnes of freight.
The category of handling services includes ground handling and surveillance, passenger assistance, baggage, cargo and mail handling, aircraft preparation for take-off and landing as well as assistance on the surface of the ship.
