Good news: 65,000 retirees to get higher pensions starting November 1st
About 65,000 retirees will receive higher pensions from November 1, not from April 1 next year as previously expected. The announcement's been made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip at today's Government meeting.
Thus, over 58,000 old-age pensioners will receive a monthly increase, on average, by 17%, or 255 lei more. Over 6,000 pensioners with disabilities will get increase of 28%, or 274 lei per month more, on average.
"From November 1st, we will make the revaluation of old-age and disability pensions set in 2009-2011. According to the initial chart, this stage of pension revaluation is planned on 1 April next year, but we have budgetary resources to speed up this process five months earlier. We are talking about 64,878 pensioners benefiting from this measure, " says Pavel Filip.
Likewise, Prime Minister Pavel Filip mentions that the reform of the pension system, initiated last year, brings more and more positive results for the citizens.
"I assure you that these reforms will reap more benefits in the coming months. I'm sure that if we continue, we will get ahead of schedule in lots of categories", concluded the Head of State.
The necessary budget allocated for the project cost 33.6 milioane de lei, resource identified as a result the revenue increase in the state social security budget for 2017.
