The Parliament has adopted a new law during the first session, according to which prices for unfiltered cigarettes will raise. The new law states that oval filters cigarettes will cost at least 10 lei, while those with mouthpiece filter at least 12 lei.

According the project's author, Democratic Party's deputy Iurie Chiorescu, this new change will bring up to 12 million lei in the state budget by the end of the year. In order for it to be approved, the new law will be voted at the Parliament's second session.

The Government wishes for a cigarette pack to have the same price as in European Union, by 2025.
