Today marks International No Tobacco Day. Citizens received over 750 000 lei fines for smoking in public places

People who chose to smoke in public places around the Capital received over 750 thousand lei fines. According to the Municipal Center of Public Health those fines were given during January - September 2017.
Doctors warn that smoking remains the second risk factor for death. Each year in Moldova, around 6 000 people pass away due to illnesses caused by smoking. In 60% of the cases the victims are people of average age.
In order to raise awareness, each year, on the third Thursday of November, is celebrated International No Tobacco Day. In 2017 the day's motto is "Quitting smoking makes air cleaner".
