Man caught removing registration plate in Buiucani, attempting to blackmail foreign drivers
A 21-year-old was caught red handed while removing a registration plate of a car, parked in Buiucani sector.
Law enforcement have found him in possession of screwdrivers and notes. The suspect wished to remove the plates and leave in their place a note, demanding 60 US dollars in exchange, as the cars were registered abroad.
The suspect fully confessed, while the plates will be returned to their rightful owners. He now risks an up to 13 000 lei fine, 120 to 240 hours of unpaid community services, or up to 2 years of imprisonment.
Officers will establish if the man had previously committed any other crimes.
