Families from Moldova celebrating Christmas. Houses are filled with music and the smell of food
Thousands of Christians from Moldovan are celebrating today Christmas Eve. People are bustling around their houses. The smell of foods has filled today the house of Onica family from Măgdăcești village, Criuleni district. The whole family worked alongside to prepare the most beautiful Christmas dinner.
For everything to go smoothly, Anastasia Onica woke up at 4 am to prepare all the ingredients. The table will not even lack her special sarmas.
"I put duck breast. Some carrot, onion and rice. All the proportions must be equal, fat, red pepper, salt, pepper, a bit of garlic. I use grape and raspberry leaves for sarmas" the woman explained.
For guests who will come to celebrate Christmas with the family, ten dishes will be prepared:
"We prepared borscht, made out of duck and pickled cabbage. Set it in a pot. We let it cool down and then tomorrow, it will be baked in the oven."
Pastries also have a special spot on the table. The whole family prepared them.
On 25th December, Onică family celebrates two holidays. As it is also the lady of the house's 38th birthday.
"I love Christmas, as it has a dual meaning for us. It is the birthday of our beloved mother" daughter Dariana Onică mentioned.
Preparations for Christmas were done with music, while in the afternoon the family was visited by people singing carols.
